First words, then a stick and knife, then guns

Two men were arrested after they exchanged gunfire Thursday on Linden Street in a residential area of Richmond.
Richmond police said Mark Goggins, 44, and Russell Hopkins, 44, got in an argument after Goggins drove by Hopkins’ house and Hopkins yelled at him for driving too fast.
Goggins stopped, and the two argued, and Goggins drove away, police said. Then he returned, and Hopkins brought out a knife or other weapon, and Goggins hit him with a stick, police said, and Goggins drove away.
Then Goggins came back, and the two exchanged gunfire.
Goggins’ vehicle was shot in the rear, and the front door of Hopkins’ house was shot. Neither man was shot, and no one was injured, police said.
Both Goggins and Hopkins were arrested in their own homes and charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Both were taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
